What is the Christian's attitude toward sin?

E-mail Print PDF

The attitude of Christian toward sin is the same as God's. God hates sin and loves righteousness.

Heb 1:8-9...Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity;

A Christian should hate sin and love righteousness also. Why? God puts His nature into the heart of a man who accepts Christ's shed blood for personal forgiveness from sin. A believer receives Christ within. The affections of a believer are not he same as a sinners affections. The desires of a believer are not the same as a sinner's desires. The actions of a believer are not the same sinner's actions. The character and make-up of a man who trusts Christ...is morally changed by the Grace of God.

That's why a believer's attitude toward sin and disobedience is different than a sinful man. The new nature received in the new birth is what changes the human attitude toward sin and sinful conduct. Righteousness is revealed from the person of Christ. Hating sin is the attitude of a believer when the danger of sin is realized. A Christian is through with the old life. A Christian is ashamed of the wrongful things he used to do. A Christian does not caring a guilty concscience. A Christian realizes the damage that was done from sin and sinful living. Righteousness from God shows the believer a better way and a better life thats built according to God's standard. God hates sin and loves righteousness. So does the child of God. Both have the same attitude toward sin and righteousness.

Sin destroys the communion that a beleiver has with God.
Sin is not essential in the life of a Christian.
Sin hardens the heart so much that some men will never find God again.
Sin blinds men from the light of the Glorius Gospel.
Sin can wreck a marriage.
Sin can cause men to turn their back on God.
Behind every sin is rejection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God know's the damage that sin causes. There is a burning Hell for those who hate righteous and love sin. That is the attitude of a rejector of truth. Acceptance of Christ is right and holy living with a God-given attitude to denounce sin. The righteouness of Christ shows man what "right" really is. Having a clean heart is right in the eyes of God. Having a filthy heart caused from sin is wrong. Don't be decieved by thinking the way the world thinks...sin is wrong. That's why God hates it and that;s why children of God hate it.

I'm glad God throws our sins into the sea of forgetfulness...and remembers them no more. That's what Jesus mean't when He said He was the way, the truth, and the life. That's why Jesus told the woman to go and sin no more. Even this writer has that same atttitude against sin because I've seen the damage it has done in my personal life, family life, friends lives, and associates lives. I will close with this verse...

1 Peter 3:12.. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Is your attitude toward sin the same as God's?
