Most of us can picture our walk of faith as we grow in the natural. We say that we are infants when born again then grow to be adolescents as we grow in Christ, and we grow until the image of Christ is made in us, if not here than in Heaven. In the natural we get sick so we apply that to the spiritual. Also we believe there are cripples in the spiritual just as in the natural.
Many times does Paul tell us to grow in the knowledge of Christ. When we first got saved our faith was easily put out, our doctrine has changed time and time again. As little kids in the natural like to be tickled and they laugh at things that we might not find so funny. Kids go from crying to laughing just by a simple boo or facial expression. But we as believers can't stay at that place where we have to constantly be tickled by God. There is a time for that. However as we grow, tickling just doesn't work, now you have to tell a joke to get us to laugh.
As we grow naturally we realize that we can't go by feelings. I can't stop going to work just because I don't feel like it. Likewise, we can't be going on feelings all the time with God. There was a time when He tickled us and made us laugh, but we can't return to that when we grow in the spiritual. God wants to talk to us. He wants to share what's on His heart. You can't talk to an infant but with an adult. God wants to tell you what hurts Him. He wants to share his pain for his bride. He wants to tell you how much He wants to use you and save souls through you. He wants to tell you what to do next in your life. Let him speak to you. There was a time when God was there only to help you in your problems. Is it time now for you to be the one to help God in his problems. Are you willing to surrender your life and will to do His will? He wants to save souls, do you? He wants to make you pure and holy, do you? Maybe he can't tell you this because you are still an infant? Don't end up being a sick, crippled, or infant Christian. Go deeper with God.
